Job Title: Director of After School Center
Job Overview: The After-School Program Director provides leadership and oversight for the church’s After-School Program, ensuring a safe, structured, relational, and Christ-centered environment where children and families are supported academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
This position combines operational leadership, volunteer management, family engagement, and community relationship-building to strengthen the overall impact of the ministry within the neighborhood.This role will focus on utilizing strong administrative and operational skills to support and strengthen our ministry.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Program Leadership
Provide overall leadership and oversight for the After-School Program
Develop and maintain effective systems, schedules, and daily program operations
Oversee program logistics including activities, homework support, recreation, reading and math
Maintain attendance records, incident documentation, and program organization
Ensure all safety procedures, child protection policies, and supervision standards are followed
Manage ministry supplies, resources, and program materials
Help evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth and improvement
Assist in planning outreach events, family events, and seasonal programming
Relational Leadership
Build strong, consistent relationships with children and families participating in the program
Provide mentorship, encouragement, and behavioral support for students
Cultivate a welcoming culture of respect, belonging, consistency, and care
Support students and families navigating difficult circumstances with compassion and wisdom
Foster positive relationships with volunteers, creating a healthy and encouraging team culture
Serve as a visible and relational presence within the neighborhood and church community
Volunteer Leadership
Recruit, coordinate, train, and support volunteers serving in the After-School Program
Provide clear communication, scheduling, and expectations for volunteers
Ensure volunteers are properly equipped and supported in their roles
Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive volunteer engagement
Family & Community Engagement
Maintain ongoing communication and relationships with parents and guardians
Serve as a primary contact for family concerns, questions, and participation
Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and ministry partners
Represent the ministry positively within the neighborhood and broader community
Help connect families with church ministries, resources, and opportunities for involvement
Qualifications:
Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with That Neighborhood Church’s statement of faith
Experience working with children, youth, families, or community-based programs
Strong leadership, relational, and organizational skills
Ability to lead teams and build healthy volunteer culture
Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment
Trauma-informed care training or experience is a plus
Passion for serving children and families in a ministry-centered environment
Hours & Compensation:
Full-time position 32 hours /4-day work week)
